PCG Apple Dinner September 21

PCG Apple Dinner September 21

For the second year in a row, Slow Food Charlotte will be leading an apple-picking expedition up to Pinnacle, NC. And for the second year in a row, six Piedmont Culinary Guild chefs will be taking that bounty to create a six-course luxury dinner – with the proceeds to benefit, PCG, Slow Food Charlotte, and the Elma C. Lomax Incubator Farm.

The Carolina Apple Feast will be Monday, September 21 at Bonterra Dining & Wine Room. Host chef Blake Hartwick will be joined by Joe Kindred – Chef/Owner, Kindred; Terra Ciotta – Instructor, Art Institute/Charlotte; Megan Lambert – Instructor, Johnson & Wales University/Charlotte; Adam Reed – Chef/owner Sante; and Ashley Boyd – Pastry Chef/Owner 300 East and Pastry Consultant, Heritage Food and Drink.

As with last year, Slow Food Charlotte has organized a trip to Horne Creek Farm in Pinnacle, NC for the apple picking. A throwback farm (circa 1910), Horne Creek is home to well over 400 varieties of heirloom apples – some of which can only be found at this location, having saved many from extinction.

Each chef will receive a particular variety to base his or her dish. Click here to view what last year’s chefs created.

Slow Food CharlotteSlow Food Charlotte works to build communities and preserve the traditions of the table.

From local and regional heirloom fruits and vegetables, to farmhouse cheeses, rare animal breeds, and handcrafted wine and beer, Slow Food is dedicated to joining farms to markets and “marrying soulful pleasure” to the table.

The Elma C. Lomax Incubator Farm nurtures a new generation of farmers by providing classroom instruction on the business of farming as well as hands–on experience. Participants in the program develop and manage their own agriculture business while receiving guidance from staff and seasoned farmers.

The cost of the dinner is $85.00. You can make reservations directly by calling Bonterra at (704) 333-9463 or using this reservation form.
