Dr. Dan Murrey Chair
Dr. Dan Murrey grew up on a cattle farm in middle Tennessee and first migrated to the Charlotte area to attend Davidson College. An avid home cook and CSA participant, Dan has been involved in the local food scene for years as a founding member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council, Slow Food Charlotte, and founding and current board chairman of the Seventh Street Public Market. He makes his own bacon.
Professionally Dan is an orthopedic surgeon, former CEO of OrthoCarolina, and currently CEO of Transformant Healthcare Solutions. THS helps physicians lower the cost of healthcare while improving the patient experience and outcomes. As CEO, Dan has led efforts in quality improvement, data management, corporate compliance, delivery system innovation, customer service, and innovative contracting.
In addition to his role as a physician leader, Dan’s public service includes leading Charlotte’s efforts to host the Democratic National Convention in 2012, serving as a Mecklenburg County Commissioner at-large, and membership on numerous nonprofit boards. He is married to singer-songwriter Katie Oates and father of Sam and Lucy.
