Terra Ciotta Vice Chair
Chef Instructor Terra Ciotta brought together her love of cooking and learning by becoming a culinary instructor at The Art Institute of Charlotte in 2010.
Originally from Alabama, Terra earned a B.S. in History from Spring Hill College in Mobile. While earning her degree, she decided that cooking was her real passion. Upon completing her bachelors, she began working at Drayton Place as a pantry/prep cook, eventually working her way up to assistant kitchen manager.
When Drayton Place closed, she spent one year working at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and then moved to Charlotte to complete an associate’s degree at The Art Institute. Upon graduating, she began working at Santé Restaurant in Matthews as sous chef, while simultaneously working for Chef Charles Catering as a pastry cook.
Terra also spent two seasons working with Michele Lamb at Bosky Acres making goat cheese.
Chef Ciotta jumped at the chance to return to her alma mater to teach while completing her MBA from South University in 2013. Ciotta enjoys teaching the à la carte class where she can focus on farm-to-table cooking and bringing her students to her weekly market trips while forging relationships with local farmers.
