A Chapel Hill, NC native, Joelle McMahan has been able to see the hospitality industry from many different sides.
Already having a passion for baking, she started working at a local bakery while attending Appalachian State University, where she earned her BSBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Working at the bakery, she expanded her passions to include coffee, sourcing local, and businesses supporting their communities.
Her first two years in Charlotte she stayed a part of the hospitality industry by being the lead vocalist for a band that performed at local wine bars, weddings, and restaurants, and ran a small bakery business out of her apartment.
Meanwhile, her parents, Dana and Esteban McMahan, were hard at work launching and operating TOPO Distillery, the south’s first local, fully organic distillery.
Joelle recently joined the family business as the TOPO’s representative in Mecklenburg County, where she furthers the company’s philosophy in promoting local products while supporting restaurants and chefs across the Carolinas.
