Deadline for Farm Hands – Charlotte Micro-Grant Is January 19
If you run a small for-profit farm in Charlotte or its surrounding counties – and you have a big idea on how you can farm better, Farm Hands may just have some money for you to help you do it.
Formerly known as Funds to Farms, Farms Hands is a community-based, crowdsourced organization “dedicated to supporting the growth and vitality of Charlotte’s agricultural community. It is a collaborative concept aimed at creating opportunities for Charlotte area farmers while fostering community and building awareness of the challenges that our farmers face.”
This year’s micro-grant winner will receive approximately $1000 with the goal of farming better, smarter, and more sustainably.
Last year’s winner, Coldwater Creek Farms used the funds for a new seeder to help with the busy planting season. “The Jang JP3 seeder that CWCF was able to purchase with the funds awarded to us enabled the farm to be more productive and efficient with our time,” says Coldwater Creek Farms co-founder Eric Williamson. “This in turn, saves us money and allows us to get more accomplished.”
Application Deadline is Monday, January 19. For details on eligibility, proposal requirements, and application form, check out the Farm Hands website.
