PCG Member Kate Brun is hosting the second of a three-part series on Mushroom Cultivation at Lucky Leaf Gardens. This session will cover “King Stropharia” – aka the Garden Giant. King Stropharia is an excellent addition to your farm/garden for its soil building qualities (quickly breaking down biomass).
Growing King Stropharia can also help protect your other plants by eliminating nematodes and other parasites. Aside from their amazing biological features, they produce large amounts of food in a short period of time, and their mycelial can be spread easily from one bed to another. This crop will amaze you with its volume and feed you through summer if stored properly.
In this two-hour instructional session led by Amy Lemieux, you’ll learn the ins and outs of mycelium, possible obstacles, and you’ll take home your own King Stropharia mycelium kit. Amy has extensive training and certification in Herbal First Aid, Mushroom Cultivation in Southeastern climates, and Environmental Education. She has been a member of the Queen City Herb Association for three years, and is a Master Gardener.
Locally sourced light refreshments are included. Only twelve seats available. Must have a minimum of six people registered to continue with scheduled event. If you attended the previous session, use the Discount Code to receive 10% off.
Cost: $40/person.
