2023 PCG Farm Grant Application

PCG is excited to announce we have five $3000 grants to award to farmer members with funds raised by the 2022 Farm to Fork Picnic in the Garden.

All applications will be reviewed and judged by a panel of experts from Cooperative Extension from outside our area. Requirements

 
– Recipients must be current, fully paid PCG Professional or Business Members at the time of the award. If you are not sure of your membership status, log into pcgmembers.com and check your membership expiration date (and renew if necessary).
 
-Grant recipients must be able to contribute a minimum of 10% ($300) of the total grant award toward their winning projects. This can be cash or in the form of labor (ex I want 2 caterpillar tunnels and I’m going to save $300 by assembling them myself instead of paying for assembly). Please denote in your budget where this is being applied.
 
– If selected, you must be available July 16th for award announcement at CPCC Main, Charlotte following the second session of the 2023 PCG Food & Beverage Symposium .
 
– Award recipients must submit a final report and summary including receipts for project expenditures, along with accurate financial reporting from start to finish, and photographs upon the completion of the project on an agreed upon date.
 
– Recipients must allow for a planned farm visit to showcase their completed project.
 
– Grant recipients will be asked to share information about their project and what they learned at the 2023 PCG Food & Beverage Symposium. Recipients project submittal and reporting will be made available as an example for following year(s) grant promotion.
 
The application asks for the following information:
 
1) Project Name
2) Farmer(s) name
3) Farm location
4) Percentage of household income from farm/food business
5) Total cost of project
6) How are you currently involved in our local foodshed?
7)  What are you seeking funding for?
8) What things, if any, need to be put in place for you to be able to start this project if you are awarded the money?
9) How will this project help increase your involvement in our foodshed?
10) How does this project increase your farm’s viability?
11) How does this project increase your farm’s profitability?
12) A line item budget for the cost of the project in total must be included with the application. Please make sure to include total cost of materials and specialized labor if applicable. Please see the application for examples. Projects without a budget attachment will not be considered for funding. 
 
How will the application be scored?
 Each application will be scored on five criteria, with each one contributing up to 20% of the final score. Following are the five criteria:
 

1) Does the project result in an on-farm efficiency improvement? Describes how on-farm efficiency would be improved with this project:
