Geoff Blount Co-Hosts Beer-Chocolate Tasting Sunday, March 29
Beer and Chocolate?
Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, and after 5:30pm Sunday, March 29, we doubt you’ll ever knock it again. PCG Member Chef Geoff Blount (CPCC BPA Instructor and Callebaut Chocolate Ambassador) has teamed up with with Dogfish Head Beer Brewery, Callebaut Chocolate, and Salud Beer Shop to host a very special tasting event.
For a mere $15.00, you will savor four 5oz. Dogfish samples along with four custom-crafted creations by Chef Geoff, featuring Callebaut Belgian chocolate.
“The beer renaissance outside of Europe reignited interest in beer and food pairings in recent years,” says Geoff. “These days, it is now almost commonplace to find beer dinners presented in all parts of the world. In most cases consumers are leery of sweets and beer.
“We are going to help educate the palate just a bit to allow everyone’s favorite chocolate dessert make it to the beer tasting table,” Chef Blount continues.
The Taste Pairing will be as follows:
Beer: Dogfish Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew
Chocolate: Thai Chili and Ginger Infused 823 Milk Chocolate Bon Bon
Beer: Dogfish Theobroma
Chocolate: Petite Brown Butter Hazelnut Cake with 54% Dark Chocolate Caramel Cream
Beer: Dogfish Sixty-One
Chocolate: 70% Dark Chocolate bar with Gouda Cream and Red Fruits
Beer: Dogfish Olde School Barleywine
Chocolate: White chocolate Bavarian with Cherry Gelée and Toasted Almond Praline
This is part of an ongoing beer tasting series Salud has been hosting at its shop on 3306-B N. Davidson Street in the NoDa section of Charlotte.
Callebaut has been creating world-class chocolate at its headquarters in Wieze, Belgium since 1911. Dogfish Head Brewery is a microbrewery based in Delaware. The company has been producing unique craft beers since 1995.
