PCG Member Marc Jacksina and partner photographer/videographer Peter Taylor will be screening their Season 2 finale, episode 2.9 of their order/fire series of culinary profiles – hosted by members Jason and Sarah Alexander at Free Range Brewing.
Marc sits down with fellow PCG Member and Pastry Chef Ashley Boyd to cover topics ranging from her education studying fine arts to the pull of the family restaurant business driving her back onto a career path in food. Well-known for her daring and beautiful dessert creations, Chef Ashley currently oversees the dessert programs at both 300 East in Charlotte and the James Beard nominated Heritage Food and Drink in Waxhaw.
Chef Ashley Boyd was raised in the food business, spending afternoons and evenings at her mother’s restaurant as a child, later working in various positions as age allowed. After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago, Chef Boyd felt the pull back to food with restaurant, bakery and hotel positions in Chicago, Charleston and Detroit. Chef Boyd worked under acclaimed chef Robert Carter and pastry chef Esthi Stefenelli at Peninsula Grill in Charleston. She returned to Charlotte and the family business, 300 East, and her passion for dessert-making remained. In September 2015, Chef Boyd took on the Pastry Chef position at Chef Paul Verica’s Heritage Food & Drink in Waxhaw, NC, while continuing to oversee the dessert program at 300 East.
Before and after the screening, meet Chef Ashley, get some delectable tastes of her dessert creations, and enter more exciting raffles that will benefit A Child’s Place. Prizes include a dinner for two at Heritage Food and Drink with a special dessert tasting menu and a dinner for two at 300 East – also with a special dessert tasting menu.
Cost: Free for the viewing. Raffle tickets: $10.00 each.
