J & J Family Farm – Outdoor Mushroom Cultivation Workshop
March 24, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
$15 – $35.00
PCG Member Jennifer Stalford will be teaching outdoor log and bed mushroom cultivation from strain selection and inoculation to harvesting and storage.
Understand the connection between mushroom cultivation and a healthy managed forest. Appropriate for all knowledge levels. Mushrooms that will be discussed include Oyster, Shiitake and Wine Cap.
Homeschool groups are welcome. This is an opportunity for children to learn how plants grow and even have an activity such as planting a seed in a dixie cup that they can bring home and watch it grow. Chefs are welcome to tour our farm plus see what’s growing and on the horizon. Enjoy walking the trails and photographing flowers – as well as to bring a picnic lunch. Picnic tables onsite.
The event is made possible due to a partnership with Clemson University, Catawba Farm & Food Coalition, and SC New & Beginning Farmers program.
Cost
$35.00 (with inoculated log) / $15.00 (without)
